Field experiments were conducted during 1986–87 and 1987–88 cropping season to find out competing ability of sugarcane with weeds. Treatments keeping crop weedy upto 0,30,60, 90,120 days after planting and up to harvesting were included. Cyperus rotundus L predominated the weed flora at 30, and Dactyloctenium aegyptium (L) Beauv at 60 and 90 days after planting. Maximum dry matter of weeds (436.50 g/m») was accumulated in the plots kept weedy upto harvesting which resulted 40–01 per cent reduction in cane yield. Cane yield did not influence significantly when the crop was kept weedy upto 60 days of planting. It indicated that sugarcane can tolerate weed competition upto 60 days after planting without significant reduction in cane yield.
