Abstract In the present study, the sustainable management practices were examined through the assessment of various sugarcane intercropping like Sugarcane + Rajma, Sugarcane + Chilli, Sugarcane + Gram, Sugarcane + Coriander, Sugarcane + Potato, Sugarcane + Mangrella, Sugarcane + Tomato, Sugarcane + Garlic, Sugarcane + Lentil and Sugarcane sole crop was assessed for two crop seasons i.e. 2019-20 and 2020-21 with respect to disease incidence, germination and quantitative cane parameters. The effect of sugarcane intercropped with Rajma, Chilli, Gram, Coriander, Potato, Mangrella, Tomato, Garlic and Lentil along with sugarcane sole crop was studied with respect to the red rot disease incidence and various cane parameters. The Sugarcane + Garlic intercropping was found most promising in suppressing red rot disease incidence, enhancing germination, cane girth, cane length, cane weight, number of millable canes and yield followed by Sugarcane + Coriander and Sugarcane + Potato intercropping system. On contrary, sugarcane sole crop showed poor performance in controlling red rot disease and enhancing various cane parameters.
