Abstract Present research work was carried out during March 2021 to April 2023 in order to study seasonal variation in aquatic macrophytes and water quality parameters in Ganak Beel, Golaghat Assam. During this investigation, total of 94 aquatic macrophytes belonging to 41 families were recorded. Poaceae was the dominant family representing 14 species. Seasonal variation in the diversity of aquatic macrophytes was observed. Monsoon season showed appearance of maximum number of species, while post monsoon season was with least number of species. The water quality parameters are such as temperature ranged from 10 -30° C, pH 5.0 - 6.0, turbidity 8 -30, DO 5.0 - 10.5 ppm, COD 60 - 90 ppm, Alkalinity 20.0 to 100.0 ppm, Total Hardness 67.0 - 92.0 ppm , Nitrate 0.05 -7.00, Ammonia 0.05 -4.00 ppm.
