Online published on 17 October, 2024. Abstract Present study was undertaken on survey of the snakes found in and around Vita city, located in the Sangli district of Maharashtra state. The study was conducted from June 2022 to April 2024. The data were collected through on-site observations, incidents of snakes being killed on the roads, and requests for snake rescues in the research area., In all 17 different snake species from 5 distinct families were reported. Among these, 12 were classified as nonvenomous, while 3 species were venomous, specifically the Indian Spectacled Cobra, Krait, and Russell's Viper. Additionally, 2 species were classified as semivenomous, including the Green Vine Snake and the Common Indian Cat Snake. Top Keywords Snakes, Vita, Cobra, Krait, Russell's Viper. Top |
