Metal ion removal by neem leaf powder through biosorption

Abstract

Biosorption represents biological method of removing heavy metals from aqueous solutions. Present study was undertaken to investigate biological adsorption of Cu, Ni, and Co using neem leaves as a natural biosorbent. The effect of various biological and environmental parameters, including pH, metal ion concentration, contact time, dosage, and temperature, were examined to understand their effect on the process of biosorption. The results indicated that neem leaves exhibited high affinity for heavy metals, making them a viable option for eco-friendly water treatment and environmental remediation.
