Nutritive value of some forest plants of melghat tiger reserve (Maharashtra) Deshmukh Vilas R. Department of Botany, Vidya Bharati Mahavidyalaya, Camp, Amravati.-444 602. (M.S.). Abstract Chemical composition of 20 common forest plants from Melghat tiger reserve was studied. The crude protein content in the foliage ranged from 8.3 to 23.1%, crude fat from 1.5 to 11.5%, crude fibre from of 10.5 to 37.0%, while Ash content from 4.0 to 19.8%. Wide variation in the chemical composition was observed however, some of the plants i.e. Citro/us co/ocynthus, Clitoria biflora, Flacourtia indica may be recommended as fodder on the basis of their protein and fat content.
