Instructions to Authors

The Journal publishes original research papers, review articles and short communications in all areas of Agricultural Biochemistry including Plant Biochemistry, Plant Molecular Biology, Soil Biochemistry, Animal Biochemistry, Biochemistry of Pesticides and Plant Diseases, Nutritional Biochemistry, Food Science, Agricultural Microbiology and Plant Biotechnology. The manuscripts will be accepted for publication from members of the Society as well as non-members. In case of members, one of the authors of the paper must be a fellow or member of the Society. However, non-members will have to pay printing charges @ Rs. three hundred (or US $ 15) per page. All the manuscripts will be peer reviewed. The responsibility for any statement in the article rests entirely with the concerning authors. The manuscripts should be submitted, in triplicate, to the Editor-in-Chief or Executive Editor of the Journal or to the Hony General Secretary of the Society. It may also be submitted to any member of the Editorial Board. The authors are advised to prepare their manuscripts according to the following guidelines.

Format of Paper

Each full length research paper must not exceed 10–12 typed pages including tables and illustrations. However, the review papers may contain 20–25 typed pages. Manuscripts should be typed on one side of the bond paper of 22x28 cm, double spaced. The full length paper should include title, author's name and address, abstract, key words, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, acknowledgement, if any and references. The short communications should have short title, author's name and address followed by abstract, key words, text, acknowledgement and references and should be restricted to 3–4 typed pages. In addition to the above instructions, authors are also advised to consult latest issue of the Journal or a reprint thereof so that the pattern adopted by the Journal is strictly followed. The author/authors should submit the following certificate along with the manuscript duly signed. “Certified that this article has not been published/accepted or submitted for publication in any other Journal”.

Tables and Figures

Tables should be typed on separate sheets with first letter capital, table number followed by the title of the table. For each figure, a glossy print or original drawing should be submitted. The size of the figure should not exceed 8.5 cm x 15.0 cm. Captions and legends to illustrations should be typed on separate paper. Line drawings and photographs should contain figure number and authors name on the back with soft lead pencils. Colour photographs will be printed on special request and on payment of Rs. 5000/(or US $ 200) as processing charges.

References

References should be cited in the text by number in brackets. References should be numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. Abbreviations of the names of scientific journals should exactly conform to those cited in the World List of Periodicals, Butterworths Scientific Publications, London, 1962. Each reference should provide name(s) of the authors followed by year in bracket, title of the book being cited/Journal name, volume number (bold) and page (initial) number. The following style of the reference should be followed.

Abbreviations: Standard abbreviations should be used. Some of the common abbreviations are given below :
h (hour); min (minutes); sec (seconds); mol wt (molecular weight); cpm (counts per minutes); DAS (days after sowing); SD (standard deviation); IAA (indole-3-acetic acid); A (angstron unit); NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate); m-RNA (messenger RNA).

The authors are requested to use internationally accepted standardized AGROVOC thesaurus keywords in their papers to facilitate its computerization and global accessibility through different search engines on the Internet. This thesaurus (AGROVOC) is easily available on-line at the FAO's website (http://www.fao.org/agris).

Reprints: No free reprints will be supplied. However, the author/authors will be supplied twenty five reprints on request at the time of submitting the revised manuscript on payment @ Rs. 100 per printed page.
