Linkage of Five Anthocyanin Genes in Rice-1 Kolhl G. L.2, Bhat N. R. 2Present Address: Training Associate, Krishi Vigyan, Kendra, Kosbad Hill (401–703), Thane District, Maharashtra State, India.
1’Blue Belle’ is introduced from Texas. ‘Kosbhat’ is a derivative of the cross (Mtu-3 X T.N.I) ‘Adt-27’ is an improved rice variety from Tamilnadu State, India, Abstract Segregation of anthocyanin genes was recorded in the F2 of two reeciprocal crosses, (i) Kobhat* x Blue Belle* and (ii) Kosbhat x Adt-27* of rice, Oryza sativa, L. The characters studied were pigmentation in leaf sheath (external), leaf sheath (internal), internode, apiculus and stigma, In both crosses, the reciprocals were homogeneous-Crossover estimates were made on pooled data of each cross. In the cross'Kosbhat x Blue Belle”, estimates between the individual and joint segments indicated the ordet Psh (Ext) Psh (Int) Ps Ap Pm. However, in the cross ‘Kosbhat x Adt-27’ when internode was left out, the older of the genes Ps and Ap was found to have been reversed, the estimates being \ciy much reduced. This could have been caused by an inversion combined with deletion in the relevant chromosome of Adt-27. In the remaining three combinations involving internode the situation is perplexing, thought not incompatible with the inversion mentioned above. Top |
