Abstract The nutritional and medicinal value of camel milk is well known since ancient period as it has low cholesterol and sugar contents, but high in minerals, vitamin C and protective proteins like lacto-ferrin, lacto-peroxidase, Immunoglobulins and lysozyme as compared to bovine milk. It is unique in terms of anti-oxidative factors, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-tumor activity, hypoglycaemic, anticancer, preventive ageing and autoimmune diseases. It improves kidney and liver function. It contains orotic acid, which is responsible to bring down the cholesterol level. It also helps to reduces autism symptoms in children. However, due to low and small molecules of lactose, it is easily digested by lactose intolerance people. The lactoferrin present in milk has ability to inhibit proliferation of cancer cell, realized that it has health promoting properties hence, proper marketing is required to popularize the camel milk, milk products and other uses of camels.
