Abstract

The development of Acrotylus humbertianus Sauss. was studied at six different temperatures (15, 27, 32, 37, 42 and and three different R.H. viz., 44, 65 and 80 ± 5%. The hoppers and adults were kept at 12 hours day light altered and fed on Cynodon dactylon Pers. Temperature exhibited marked effects on the development and viability of eggs, survival and developmental index of hopper and maturity, longevity and fecundity of adults. An increase in temperature within the limits of favourable temperatures increased the rate of development. Relative humidity had no marked effect.
