Effect of sex-ratio on fecundity in Trogodrema granarium Everts (Coleoptera: Dermestidae) Odeyemi Olusola O. Department of Biology, The Federal University of Technology, P. M. B. 704, Akure, Ondo State (Nigeria). Abstract Adults of Trogoderma granarium Everts (0–24 h old) were paired in varied male to female ratios for egg laying. Each insect pair was placed in a Petri dish (4 cm dia) lined with black paper folds which served as a substratum for egg laying and kept at 75% RH and 35°C in the Gallenkamp cooled incubator. There were significant differences in the oviposition rate, oviposition period and hatching of eggs. Also, the male to female ratio of 2:1 was the best in respect of availability of large number of eggs and first instar larvae (69.24%). Top | |
