Abstract The vegetable armyworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) is an extremely polyphagous pest throughout Socialist Peoples Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. It is a regular pest and causes severe damage every year to many crops including vegetables, cereals, fodders, narcotic, ornamentals and fruit trees. The pest has a wide host range. It feeds on forty different hosts from 19 crop families in the Jamahiriya having different degrees of infestation. The seriously attacked crops included alfalfa, tobacco, potato, eggplant, pepper, onion, Zinnia, Calendula and datura. It also attacks many fruit and forest trees in nursery. Top |
