Abstract

Bamboos are attacked right from seed to finish products by 212 insect species. During the present study Chlorophorus annularis was reported first time attacking eight dry bamboo species. Bambusa polymorpha was observed (76.59%) attacked by the borer followed by Bambusa balcooa (36.57%), B. multiplex (39.55%), B. giganteus (33.29%), B. tulda (35.73%), B. spinosa (25.26%), B. vulgaris (21.02%) and least attacked species was Dendrocalamus strictus (19.92%). Maximum intensity of attack was observed in Bambusa polymorpha and minimum in Bambusa spinosa.
