Abstract

Many a times, human body poses a challenge to medicolegal experts for its complex anaromical structure. Variations from the normal have been observed in the human body and one such variation is mendosal suture of occipital bone. This anatomical variation has the potential of being misinterpreted as fracture since there is paucity of information about the existence of this suture in the literature. In this article we report a case of mendosal suture found during the examination of skeletal remnants of a nine months old child who was reportedly abused and subsequently killed by his father. Furthermore, mendosal suture may also be of help in the establishment of identity of an individual when relevant ante mortem records are available.
