Export of Fruits from India: Status and Challenges Renjini V R Division of Agricultural Economics, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi Online Published on 02 September, 2024. Abstract India stands second in world fruit production next to China. The production and export of fresh and processed fruit products in India have improved. But India’s presence in the international market is meagre. Over the years, India has diversified its market for fruits—however, Indian fruits are exported to markets where unit value realization is low. India fails to comply with the standards of developed countries, especially in the area of hygienic conditions, labelling, pesticide residues, etc. This paper reviews the status of fruits exported from India, focusing on trade barriers faced in the international market. The study also highlights the initiatives carried out by the government to comply the international standards to promote the export of fruit from India.
