Abstract The communication reports surgical management of oesophageal obstruction in a bull and a cow presented with symptoms of salivation, intermittent regurgitation and inability to swallow feed and water. Diagnosis was undertaken by physical examination and confirmed radiographically. Surgery revealed that the cause of obstruction was a metal wire and a ball shaped cucumber respectively.
