Effect of different neem products on mass rearing of the maize stalk borer, Chillo partellus (Swinhoe) in artificial diet Siddiqui K.H., Sarup Prakash, Marwaha K.K. Division of Entomology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi-110 012 (India). Abstract The variable quantities (0.01, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2 per cent) of each of the three neem products, viz., leaf power, seed kernel and oil were separately incorporated in artificial diets based on green gram, Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek (mung) pain powder. All the neem products affected the development of maize stalk borer, Chilo partellus (Swinhoe), except 0.01 per cent neem oil which, however, only affected the fecundity and viability of eggs adversely. In these diets either there was no larval establishment or the larval survival was very poor. Even as low a percentage as 0.01 ofneem seed kernel inhibited the development of C. partellus. Top | |
