Abstract The present investigation entitled “Studies on vegetative, reproductive and biochemical parameters of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cultivars” was conducted at Horticutural Research Centre (HRC) of the Department of Horticulture, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut-250110, during 2015–2016. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five replications and eight cultivars of pomegranate i.e., G -137, Arakta, Phulerakta, Ganesh, Jalore Seedless, Mridula, Muskat Red, Bhagwa. Promising cultivars were identified for different fifteeen vegetative growth, flowering and fruiting parameters which may be useful for pomegranate cultivation in NWPZ of UP. The result revealed significantly on various parameters of different cultivars of pomegranate. In the experiment, it was concluded that cv. Ganesh exhibited superior performance for most of the parameters such as number of lateral branches per plant, stem girth(cm), fruit volume (ml), fruit weight(g), fruit length (cm), fruit width (cm), canopy spread (m) and yield (kg/plant) than rest of cultivars. Among the cultivars, cv. Jalore Seedless recorded highest value of parameters such as number of flowers per plant, number of fruits per plant, earliest flower initiation and earliest full bloom, while highest plant height recorded in cv. Muskat Red, minimum number of seed was found in cv. Mridula and recorded earliest flower set cv. Arakta. Based on the results obtained on vegetative growth, flowering and fruiting attributes of different pomegranate cultivars Here, scope of cv. Ganesh and Araktawere found superior for cultivation under tropical and sub-tropical climatic conditions of western U.P.
