Guidelines to the contributors
Preparation of manuscript: Manuscript should be submitted in duplicate as per instructions given below to The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor, The Indian Journal of Crop Science by registered/speed post and e-mail (to either Editor-in-chief or Managing Editor or at e-mail address : editor.ijcs@gmail.com). On receipt an acknowledgment giving the manuscript number on the paper is sent to the corresponding author. This number should always be quoted while making further enquiry about its publication. Each manuscript should have a separate title page which includes only the title, authors’ full names and complete address of academic or professional affiliations with a telephone/fax number and e-mail address. Each full length research paper must not exceed 10 printed pages including tables and illustrations. Short communications should be restricted up to four pages. Manuscript should be typed in English in double space with font size 12 on one side of the paper (A4 size), and thoroughly revised before submission. The Indian Journal of Crop Science takes no responsibility for facts or the opinions expressed in manuscripts, which rests entirely with the authors. It is also the responsibility of the authors to secure the rights of reproduction of any material that has already been published elsewhere. Manuscripts submitted to The Indian Journal of Crop Science will be reviewed by the members of Editorial Board or any other expert referee(s) chosen by the Editor-in-Chief/Managing Editor. Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to modify or reject a paper.
Text should appear in the following order:
Short title: A short title not exceeding 35 letters should be typed at the top of the first page in first letter capital and underlined.
Title: The title should be concise, specific and informative typed in first letter capital, Latin names in italics
Authors name(s): The name(s) of the authors(s) to be typed in first letters capital unaccompanied by degrees, titles etc.
Address: Address of the institution where the work was carried out. Present address should be given in footnote. Author must write a valid e-mail address in the footnote.
Abstract: Must not exceed 250 words, it should cover principal points and important conclusions without additional paragraph indentation.
Key words: Provide not more than five key-words indicating the contents of the research paper.
Main Headings: Each full length research paper will be divided into the following main headings which are to be typed only the first letter capital in the left of the page: Abstract, Introduction, Material and methods, Results and discussion, Acknowledgments, References.
Sub-heading: Typed indented, only the first letter capital, underlined/italics.
Introduction: Provide a survey of literature reviewed, limited to the statement of the problem, aim and scope of the experiment.
Material and methods: Should include relevant details on nature of material, experimental design, the techniques employed, and the statistical methods used. For well known methods, citations of standard work will be sufficient.
Results and discussion: Should be combined to avoid repetition. The results should be supported by brief but adequate tables or graphic or pictorial materials wherever necessary. Discussion should be related to the limitations or advantages of the author’s experiment in comparison with the work of others. All recent relevant literature should be discussed critically.
Acknowledgment: Should mention only assistance received in real terms, and financial assistance provided by an agency.
Tables: Type each table on a separate sheet of paper. Each table should be numbered and should contain a brief title on the top. Every table must be referred to in the text.
Figures: Draw illustrations with black ink on good quality paper. The originals or sharply focused glossy photographic prints should be submitted upon request. Each figure should be numbered and referred to in the text. Provide a separate sheet for figure captions. Sharp Laser printed figures are acceptable.
Photographs: Should be a high contrast on glossy paper. Photograph number and title of the article with author’s name should be given on the back of the photograph.
References: Should be cited in text as Miller and Marani (1963) or (Miller and Marani, 2006) depending upon the construction of the sentence. Three or more authors should be cited as Miller et al. (2006) References used in the text should be listed at the end in alphabetical order without numbering.

Reprints: Any author who requires reprints of his/her paper should indicate this upon receipt of the acceptance letter and will be required to pay for these reprints.
Soft copy : Authors are required to send soft copy of their article, text and tables in MS-Word and high resolution figures/ pictures in jpg format on CD-ROM or by e-mail.
IJCS Best Paper Award : One award (citation) will be given in a calendar year to the author(s) whose article(s) published in Indian Journal of Crop Science and found best by the expert referees.
