Heavy Metals Pollution in Agricultural Soils Around Tehran -Case Study of National Highway

Abstract

Environmental pollution of heavy metals from automobiles has attained much attention in the recent past. The present research was conducted to study heavy metal contamination in agricultural soils around Tehran, Iran. Agricultural soil samples were collected from six sites in different in Tehran. Top soil samples (0–10 cm) were collected and analysed for eight heavy metals (cadmium, copper, lead, zinc,iron, manganese, nickel, chromium).

At station 1manganese, zinc are maximum in concentration and iron, nickel are in minimum concentration. Station 2 have iron and nickel in maximum concentration while chromium is observed to be minimum at station2. At station 3 copper,lead are observed to be in maximum as compared to other stations. Also, at station 5 chromium are more in concentration while manganese is minimum.
