Associate Professor,
Concept of Labour Welfare came in for a generous mention in a resolution passed by the Indian National Congress on Fundamental Rights and Economic Programme in its Karachi session in 1931. The resolution demanded that the oranisation of economic life in the country must conform to the principles of justice and it must secure a decent standard of living.
The paper is a humble attempt to reflect upon the labour welfare measures in context of India. It also covers briefly the evolution and progress in context of labour welfare in India. The five year plans have been discussed having a bearing on labour welfare measures. It gives in detail the suggestion to further improve the scenario in the field of labour welfare.
