The Indian Himalayan region is ecologically fragile and globally known for its biological richness. In the recent decades, environmental concerns have raised the focus in understanding the impact of climate change on this unique ecology that has witnessed several irreversible alterations in the forest ecosystem and biodiversity rendering several species extinct and also altered the land use pattern affecting the dynamics of agriculture, energy and water resources. It is advocated that the degree of changes in these components brought about by climate change could help in establishing a pathway for climate change adaptation.
