Abstract

In view of growing need for counselling to improve positive mental health and to manage distress in those who are suffering from mal adaptive symptoms, an easy to practice model based on interactive process is provided here under. This process is based not only on Erwin's ‘self’ but on Thapa, s ‘we-self’ that includes symbiosis-reciprocity, denoting self-esteem derived from identification with the family process. This culturally appropriate method stressed on regularity of routine activities to discipline wondering mind and psychic energy. It also includes a comprehensive ten minutes relaxation exercise called clinical relaxation. This model is being practised for last several years and empirically adjudged to be effective in rehabilitation of psychotic patients, management of neurotic problems arising on regularity of routine activities to from neurotic nucleus and management of anxiety and stresses of daily living.
