Abstract

The leaves of ‘S144”, ‘G1157’ and ‘US104’ were found to have serrate, entire and incised margins, respectively. Genetic studies revealed the monogenic inheritance with the dominance of serrate margin over both entire and incised ones. In turn, incised was recessive to entire margin. Earlier studies which considered serrate and incised margins designated the corresponding allels, as Inl and inl. The present studies identified the third allele, inl’, for entire leaf margin.
