M. iridipennis Smith (Dammar bee) has described as one of the major pollinators of sunflower crop during summers in western belt of Uttar Pradesh. Supported by floral physiology, and correlated with the climatic parameters, their aggregation in large numbers during blooming phase has been of great utility for a better seed yield of the crop.
