Abstract

Mango is infested by several leaf galls, of which Procontariana matteiana Keiff. and Cocc. (Cecidomyiidae: Diptera) is the most importment. To detecmene the spatial distribution, a study was carried out in Lucknow district, It was found that Iwao's regression method explained the aggregation of the galls and it conformed to Iwao's combination α > 0 and (J = 1. The exponent ‘K’ of the negative binomial fitted well to the data. Taylor's power series and Lloyds index of patchiness showed aggregation. Though there was aggregation at micro-distribution level, the galls tended to randomness at a macro-distribution level.
