Micropropagation of Philodendron was successfully achieved by using axillary buds (1 cm long) as explants. The explants were properly sterilized by HgCl2 followed by NaOCl. These explants were inoculated on MS medium supplemented with BA 10 mg/litre in combination with IBA 0.2 mg/1 for establishment. Shoot proliferation was enhanced with kinetin 3 mg/litre and BA 1 mg/litre in the medium. Rooting was induced in plantlets and rooted plantlets were successfully planted in pots under normal conditions.
