In this paper present paper we have studied the performance of subcritical and super critical pulverized coal thermal power plant. For study purpose we have selected subcritical and super critical 500 MW power plant capacities. The improvement in heat rate, power output and efficiency has been analyzed by up grading the plant types and its capacity. Along with power improvement the environmental impacts of power generation without compromising their market competitiveness had been also studied.
