Abstract

During the period from August 2016 to March 2018 (20 months), 120 dogs were reported with oral affections out of 1442 total clinical cases. The hospital incidence of oral affections in dogs was 8.32%. A total of 66 cases recorded were of periodontal affections, which required conservative or surgical treatment. Periodontal disease was found to be the major health problem in dogs above the age of 5 yr. Dental polishing followed by scaling considerably improved the oral health of the patients, relieved them from chronic discomfort and wasting, and decreased the susceptibility for repeated periodontal diseases.
