Abstract

Investigations were carried out lo assess the suitability of two growing environments i.e., polyhouse and open conditions for cut flower and bulb production in two tulip cultivars namely, Apeldoorn and Princess Margaret Rose for two consecutive tulip growing seasons of 2002–2003, 2003–2004. Growing of tulips under polyhouse environment significantly improved the flower quality parameters and flowering was also hastened by about 21 day in each growing season. However, wrapper leaf area, bulbs/plant, bulblet weight/plant and vase life were significantly poor under polyhouse conditions.
