Mergers and acquisitions emerged as one of the most effective methods of such corporate restructuring, and became an integral part of the long-term business strategy of corporate in India. Over the last decade, mergers and acquisitions in the Indian industry have continuously increased in terms of number of deals and deal value. Among the different Indian sectors that have resorted to Mergers and Acquisitions in recent times, Telecom, Finance, FMCG, Construction Materials, Automobile industry and Steel Industry are worth Monitoring. In this background, the present study examines the trend and progress of M&A in India across the industry group during the period 2008 to 2014. The required data have been collected from CMIE data base of M&A and other secondary sources. In order to analyze variation in trends of M&A between the year and Industry, Two-way ANOVA has been employed. Finally the study concluded that, there is a significant variation in number and value of M&A deals between the years and between the industries during study period.
