Abstract

With positive psychology gaining cardinal position, mental health encompassing a broadened realm, and thriving individuals having an edge over successful ones, other than IQ and EQ, SQ has become important as never before. Due to paucity of studies exploring their synergistic role, this paper examines their individual and joint contribution in predicting Psychological Risk, Change Proneness, Anxiety, Attitude towards Teaching, and Values in teachers. The sample of 373, male and female teachers from different disciplines and at different levels of teaching was selected from schools and colleges of Bhopal city using stratified random sampling technique. Raven's SPM, General Mental Ability test by Jalota, EQ scale by Pant and Prakash, SQ Questionnaire developed by the investigator, Psychological Risk Factor Questionnaire by Sinha et al, Change Proneness Inventory by Mukhopadhyay, Comprehensive Anxiety Test by Bhardwaj et al, Teacher's Attitude Inventory by S.P. Ahluwalia and Personal Values Questionnaire by Sherry and Verma were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed with the help of Multiple Correlation and Regression Analysis statistical techniques. Results indicate some significant individual and joint contribution of IQ, EQ and SQ in predicting the aforesaid variables. The implications have been discussed in light of recent guidelines by NCTE for teacher education.
