In contemporary society with lots of causes Homelessness has involved as a challenge for the prevalence of equality and security among people. Homeless people are surviving in hazardous condition; undoubtedly this violation of human rights is inhibiting physical, mental and social development. They are deprived of adequate access in the basic needs of life such as health, education, housing, food, security, employment, justice and equity. Women constitute one of the groups worst affected by homelessness. While the phenomenon of homelessness violates the most basic of human rights for all populations, women without housing and living on the streets suffer the most severe kinds of abuse and violence. State response to the needs of homeless women is grossly inadequate and the majority of homeless women are left to fend for themselves. This paper attempts to highlight the causes and characteristics of homelessness, especially homeless women so that they can live a healthy and respectable life which constitutes a major part of the society.
