Abstract

Selecting a proper and suitable career has a lasting impact on an individual not only throughout his life but also on his/her respective family and people surrounding him. Investigations on career choice decision making shows that people with different cultural backgrounds have different expectations, norms, values which in turn have the potential to influence their judgment and decisions regarding their career choice. Culture sets limitations on the choice of individuals to select different careers. The study is designed to understand the extent of the influence of culture on an individual's career choice in the context of collectivist society like Bangladesh and also tries to find out the determinant cultural factors for selecting one's career. Researcher followed both quantitative and qualitative research methods for this study.
