Abstract

Isolates of Colletotrichum capsici (17) and C. gloeosporioides (3), from fruit rot infected chilli fruits, collected from different parts of Tamil Nadu, differed in virulence, pigmentation, colony diameter, sporulation. Molecular variability among isolates of C. capsici that differed in virulence was analysed by means of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), using 22 random primers. Analysis of the genetic coefficient matrix derived from the scores of RAPD profile showed that minimum and maximum per cent similarities among the C. capsici isolates were in the range of 16 to 81%, respectively.
