Abstract

A study was carried out on adoption and constraints in recommended Chickpea production technology in Sriganganagar zone of Rajasthan during 2012–13 with 200 respondents. Results indicated that more than half of the respondents were of medium age group with small to big land holding size, socio-economic status and medium to high knowledge level in recommended chickpea production technologies. It was reported that more than two-third of the respondents possesses medium to high risk bearing behavior, achievement motivation regarding gram cultivation. Study found that majority of the respondents (61.00 percent) were having medium level of adoption followed by low level (22.50 percent) and 16.50 percent respondents in high level of adoption, respectively. Study reveals that out of 10 socioeconomic variables, 8 were significantly associated with the adoption of gram production technology. On the basis of perception based ranking of constraints faced by chickpea farmers, lack of irrigation water, low status of soil fertility, low use of seed treatment and high infestation of Helicoverpa, low output price were identified as significant limiting factors in gram cultivation in the area.
