Evaluation of front line demonstration programme on summer moong in south western Punjab

The present study was conducted by KVK, Sri Muktsar Sahib and carried out during summer seasons in different block of the district during 2016. 100 front line demonstrations were conducted on summer moong variety SML 668. These demonstration recorded higher average grain yield (8.4q/ha) of summer moong as compared to average yield obtained from farmer practice (7.2 q/ha). 7.2% increase in the demonstration yield was recorded over farmer's practices. However in different Blocks of the district, higher grain yield was obtained in Malout block (10.18 q/ha) followed by Lambi block (7.81q/ha) and Gidderbaha block (7.65 q/ha). Lower grain yield obtain in Muktsar Block (7.08 q/ha). Yield was higher in Malout block due to timely sown crop and grown after the potato crop. Whereas, technology gap and extension gap was 2.85q/ha and 1.20q/ha respectively. The technology index was 25.33 percent in Muktsar district among summer moong crop. The demonstration technology gave higher net return of Rs. 36422/ha as compared to check ploti. eRs. 29292/ha and also gave higher benefit cost ratio as compared to farmer's practices.
