Abstract

Karnataka tribal groups differ from each other in various aspects. They differ in the language they speak, in their cultural pattern and socio-economic categories. Majority of these tribals living in the remote forest areas remain isolated, untouched by civilization, they are largely unaffected by the developmental processes going on in the rest of the State. Therefore, these groups remain backward, particularly in health, education and socio-economic aspects. The widespread poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition, absence of safe drinking water and sanitary living conditions, poor maternal and child health services and ineffective coverage of national health and nutritional services have been traced out in several studies as possible contributing factors to dismal health conditions prevailing among the tribal population in India. This paper is based on the field work in Karnataka to get some get some information about various health problems being faced by the selected tribal group
