Susceptibility of HIV/AIDS in the Society

This study examined stigmatization effect towards HIV/AIDS. It shows that experiences of stigmatization that have an adverse impact on the psychological well being of people living with HIV/AIDS. There is an intense conflict between the wish to reveal (to gain support from the society) and the need to conceal information about the diagnosis (fear of discrimination). The affected person weighs the benefits of disclosing information and the disadvantages of being stigmatized. The AIDS epidemic has been associated with severe negative public relations ranging from banning entry of HIV infected individuals to isolating an individual. Affected individuals are treated less and they experience Isolation, health problems and unhappiness. They even experience from others the fear of being rejected or because they blame themselves for the situation they are in. These negative reactions have shaped the behavior of infected individual. Therefore, the present work attempted to furnish the generally lacked accurate knowledge about the disease. It has mainly attempted to examine the social and psychological implications in the context of HIV/AIDS affected Individuals.
