Development of the Underdeveloped: An interface

Development is a human centric process. It is a value laden concept, total, and both qualitative and quantitative in nature. It entails social, economic, political, material, legal, administrative, psychological, and cultural values on which the full development of human behavior and self-respect of man in the society depends. The term development has been used in a wider sense. It is a slow process of civilization. However, it is also an elusive concept that involves mobilization of natural resources, augmentation of trained man power, capital, and technical knowhow, and their utilization for attainment of constantly multiplying national goals, higher living standards, and changes from a traditional to a modern society. It is generally perceived that industrialization and modernization are the essence of development. Development is a multidimensional and multi-linear process.
