Abstract

The present study was carried out to identify the endophytic Pseudomonas fluorescens with a superior mode of action and antibiotic production against cotton wilt pathogen. The activity and the efficacy of the endophytes were evaluated by spectrophotometric analysis with standards and dual plate technique, respectively. The antibiotics viz., phenazine and 2, 4 diacetylpholoroglucinol were isolated from endophytic Pseudomonas fluorescens. The isolate CCLEPf from the leaf of cotton plants demonstrated enhanced antibiotic production as the leaf endophytes recorded higher siderophore production (136.26 μg mL−1), production of volatile compounds that caused 65.44% reduction in mycelia growth of virulent isolate and production of hydrogen cyanide (OD value 0.685)
