Abstract

An investigation was conducted to identify the resistant entries against major foliar fungal diseases among the blackgram genotypes. A set of 40 blackgram genotypes were evaluated against Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Virus (MYMV), leaf crinkle and powdery mildew during Kharif 2018 under natural condition through field screening using infector row technique. Field evaluation identified 15 blackgram genotypes viz., IPU 2-43, MDBGV-04, LBG 752, KU 96-3, KU 16-4, KPU 12-213, KPU 1720-140, KPU 12-1730, TU 94-2, TJU 98-14, Pant U 14-19, PU 14-28, NUK 15-09, VBG 12-034 and COG 13-08 were free from MYMV. Similarly, 22 blackgram genotypes were identified viz., IPU 94-1, MDBGV-04, LBG 752, LBG 888, RBU 12-02, KU 16-07, KU 96-3, KPU 128-105, TPU 4, TU 94-2, RU (IU) 02-1-3, DBG 11, Pant U 31, Pant U 14-19, PU 10-23, NUL 7, VBG 14-016, VBG 12-034, VBG 13-003, COG 13-08, KUG 791 and Barabanki Local free from leaf crinkle. Further, against powdery mildew, 7 blackgram genotypes were identified viz., LBG 752, KPU 1720-140, RU 03-22, NUL 7, VBG 12-111, COG 13-08 and KUG 791. The present study revealed new source of resistance for use in breeding programme aimed at developing YMV resistant varieties.
