Abstract

The present work was carried out to synthesize manganese oxide nanoparticles by chemical reduction method using an inorganic precursor manganese (II) chloride and citric acid as reducing agent. The optical and morphological properties of synthesized nanoparticles were analyzed by Ultraviolet visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Scanning electron microscope. X-ray diffraction studies were carried out to confirm the crystalline structure of the manganese oxide nanoparticles The particle size was found to be 40 nm to 80 nm. Manganese oxide nanoparticles, one of the most attractive inorganic materials with far above the ground range of physical and chemical applications, due to its characteristic nature and ease in preparation revealed it to be eligible for application in photo catalytic degradation. The research work achieved enhanced degradation potency against toxic organic dye and their radicals excited from visible light irradiations.
