Abstract

The maximum control of powdery mildew disease by the treatment of Ampelomyces quisqualis liquid formulation at 4 mL L-1 recorded a Percent Disease Index (PDI) of 8.54 in pot culture experiments. The Trichy isolate I7 was found to be the most virulent and was confirmed with 78.37% disease incidence under pot culture condition. The induction of defense mechanisms in blackgram plants by spraying Ampelomyces quisqualis at different concentrations was well established by the estimation of different defence-related enzymes viz., Peroxidase, Polyphenol oxidase, Phenyl Ammonia lyase, β-1,3 glucanase, Catalase and Chitinase. SEM analysis of the leaf samples revealed antagonistic nature of Ampelomyces quisqualis. The reduction of conidia of E. polygoni was observed after treatment with Ampelomyces quisqualis at 4 mL L-1.
