Streptomyces isolate was screened for the production of broad spectrum anti microbial compounds which are active against bacteria as well as fungi and was characterized by conventional methods. Among several isolates one showed highest antimicrobial nature against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Based on the physiological and biochemical properties, that isolate was found to genus Streptomyces and identified as Streptomyces nojiriensis
