Abstract

The compound ethyl 5 - (ethoxycarbonyl) - 2, 6- dimethyl – 4 - (4-pyridyl) - 1, 4- dihydropyridine-3-carboxylate crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system with space group P21/n having unit cell parameters a = 11.5372(4), b= 13.1144(7), c = 11.7733(5) Å, β = 92.706(4)° and Z = 4, V = 1779.35(14) Å3. The structure has converged to a final R- value of 0.075. Both the nitrogen containing rings are held together at 88.19°. The ester and ethyl groups have been analysed for their atomic deviations. The unit cell molecular packing gives rise to a large number of intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonded interactions of the type C-H…O
