In the first section of the paper we obtain a common fixed point result for weakly commuting mappings generalizing an earlier result of Som (1985) in respect of the mapping structure as well as the mapping condition and also the results of Jungck (1976) and Taskovic (1976) in turn. In another section, a common fixed point result has been proved for commuting mappings satisfying E.A. property and a strictly inequality condition, which generalizes the result of Aamri and Moutawakil (2002).
