Abstract

An evaluation of toxic effects of quinalphos at low residue levels in female albino rats was carried out by biochemical estimations of total proteins, lipids and cholesterol in the blood plasma. Commercial quinalphos (2 mg kg−1 body weight) was administered orally to female albino rats for 15 and 30 days. Total proteins increased significantly after 30 day treatment. In contrast, no significant difference was observed in the lipid content. The cholesterol levels increased significantly after 15 day treatment in the treated animals as compared to the control, but at 30 day treatment the cholesterol content in the treated animals decreased. However, the values were higher as compared to their respective control group
