Abstract

The length-weight relationship studies were carried out in Butter Catfish, Ompok bimaculatus collected from six rivers of the Ganges Basin during January, 2011 to December, 2013. Relationships between total length and total weight of the fish were calculated separately for male, female and pooled sexes collected from each river. Two types of length-weight relationship offish were observed from this study in the six river populations, hi pooled sexes, the slope b ranged from 2.61 to 3.38, in the female it ranged from 2.28 to 4.46 and in male it varied between 3.12 and 3.98. hi all the rivers, high coefficient of correlation (r2=0.91–0.99) was observed in the length-weight relationship of male, female and pooled populations.
