Abstract

Frontline demonstration (FLD) is one of the most important and powerful tools for transfer of technology. FLDs on gram crop were conducted by KVK, Anta-Baran, Rajasthan. The performance of FLDs, the extent of adoption level, the extent of satisfaction level of respondent farmers over extension services and constraints in adoption of gram production technologies as perceived by the respondents were measured in the study. The findings of the study also revealed that there was an increase in the adoption level of technologies whichranged from 21.90% in storage and marketing to 50.48% in irrigation scheduling due to FLDs. The majority of the respondents expressed medium (52.38%) to high (30.48%) level of satisfaction on extension services and performance of technology under demonstrations. The Helicoverpa armigera and Fusarium wilt, non-availability of improved and quality seed, crop damage by wild boar, neelgai and deers, non-availability of reliable insecticide/fungicide and lack of knowledge on gram production technologies were most important constraints as perceived by the respondents. The results of the study proved the important role of FLDs in motivating the farmers for the adoption of production technology leading to increasing yield and profit
